Phra Lor is an epic love story, written in poetic verse by one of the kings during Thailand’s Ayudhya period. It tells the tale of a handsome, charming prince and his two beautiful admirers. Over the centuries there have been many songs composed using the poetry from this book as lyrics; and they have touched the nation’s heart deeply.
We would like to present some of these in this production, with a new interpretation, featuring a modern generation of artists playing both Thai and Western musical instruments. This version was taken on tour through the U.S. and Canada in 2011.
It tells the story of the famous Thai literary figure, Phra Lor, with original music in a setting of Buddhist philosophy. The contemporary version by musical director Anant Nakong – written, directed and performed by Patravadi Mejudhon – features the choreography of Slipathorn Award winner Manop Meejamrat.
The performance is in Thai and English! Tickets for 500 Baht (students 50 % discount) are now available at Vic Hua Hin: 032-827-814 to 815.
